System Engineer for Earth Observation (ENG-3-7)
Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of Earth Observation (EO) for the following work.Overview
Your duties will include:
- Support the definition and monitoring of activities for the end-to-end preparation of future ESA Earth observation missions, in particular of Earth Explorer opportunity missions
- Initiating and performing internal studies, in particular to assess the results of industrial activities
- Initiate and support work in the area of modelling of system or sub-system aspects and/or of end-to-end performance simulation
- Contributing to ensure the technical coherency of the system design, including, as needed, functional analysis and design, overall system concept, system level budgets, system performance analyses, definition of spacecraft and/or payload subsystems and related data processing
Specific qualification requirements
- a Master(-level) degree or equivalent in engineering or physics
- at least ten years of experience in space projects, including in particular in preparatory activities (phase 0 and A)
- experience in mission and system design
- experience with system (performance) simulation is desirable
- experience from work in international environments is desirable
- team management experience is desirable
- proficiency in written and spoken English, working knowledge of French

Location
The work will be performed on site at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.Contract
- The selected candidate will receive excellent remuneration.
- Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
- The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 27 annual days holiday.
- Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
- Aurora can assist with relocation.
- The work is initially until mid March 2011 with probable extension until March 2012.
