Overview

ESA would like to get an experienced Configuration Management Officer to support the Science Department.

Tasks will include:

  • Define reference processes and procedures in D/SCI according to ECSS standards and QMS requirements.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to D/SCI projects in the definition and set-up of their Configuration and Document Management (CADM) Plan and processes.
  • Interface with project controllers, project scientists for their specific configuration requirements needs.
  • Ensure consistent flowdown of ESA and D/SCI requirements and procedures to the Projects and activities within the Directorate.
  • Create templates to support standardisation across D/SCI
  • Create procedures and work instructions related to Configuration.
  • Management and Document Management within the Science Directorate
  • Organise and deliver trainings and awareness session on Document.
  • Management best practises across the Directorate.
  • Maintain a reference Document Management Sharepoint library to centralise related information.
  • Interfacing Industries and Institutions working with D/SCI projects/activities to ensure the alignment of processes, procedures and interfaces.
  • Coordinating with the ESA Record Manager for proper handling of the vital records, defining a clear management and hand-over procedure from SCI to ESA Record Manager.
  • Support the implementation of an archive system and policy in alignment with ESA-wide requirements and with Projects’ needs.
  • Support the maintenance of the D/SCI Records Schedule and of its regular audits.
  • Document best practises with the commonly used DMS in D/SCI (e.g. ECLIPSE, Content Manager) and design standard approach to be implemented in new projects.
  • Provide consultancy to D/SCI users on the possible Document.
  • Management tools and advice on the most suitable solutions for their specific needs.

Specific qualification requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent or MBA or equivalent University degree from a recognised Institution of secondary studies or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, with relevant experience.
  • Experience in controlling and/or management of activities and resources in aerospace industry. For some tasks knowledge of Finance/Accounting may be required.
  • Highly proficient in the use of modern activities and resource management support tools/databases of standard office automation support software packages including in particular advance usage of Excel (Ms-Office and in particular advanced use of Excel).
  • Experience as user of SAP and in particular ECC and SRM modules and familiarity with relevant ESA corporate applications (e.g. ESA-p) is an asset.
  • Ability to rapidly understand and adapt to ESA specific context and environment including ESA corporate IT applications. Past experience with ESA in relevant activities is an asset.
  • Proven experience in Configuration Management in Space Companies / Organizations.
  • Adequate knowledge and understanding of the applicable ESA Configuration Management requirements and standards such as MS-ESA-RQ-100, MS-ESA-RQ-108, ECSS-M40.
  • Good knowledge of the specific activities and/or organisation, of the applicable configuration management working procedures and support tool(s) are an asset.
  • Previous experiences in fields like Product Assurance, System Engineering and Production Control are an asset.
  • Fluent in the English language (spoken and written). Knowledge of other European languages is an asset.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Contract

  • The selected candidate will receive good remuneration  in line with ESA Job Class.
  • Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
  • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
  • Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
