On behalf of the Italian subsidiary of the group – SSC Italy – we are seeking passionate individuals with a strong background in telecommunications or space engineering and experience in ground operations to support one of our customers in Italy.

Responsibilities

As Ground Operations Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the preparation and execution of ground segment activities. The main tasks will be the following:

  • Participate in system validation campaigns, simulations, and rehearsals for operational readiness.
  • Support the integration and testing of new ground segment systems and tools.
  • Support real-time ground operations during LEOP and commissioning phases.
  • Monitor ground station performance, network connectivity, and data flows.
  • Coordinate with Spacecraft Operations Engineers to ensure continuous telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) services.
  • Assist in anomaly detection, troubleshooting, and contingency response on the ground segment.
  • Monitor and analyze ground system performance to maintain high service availability.
  • Maintain and update ground operations documentation and training material.
  • Participation in and provision of training sessions.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of operations.
  • Work closely with the Spacecraft Operations Manager, the Spacecraft Operations Engineers, and external ground service providers.

Requirements

  • Degree in Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in spacecraft operations, including direct involvement in LEOP activities.
  • Knowledge of TT&C systems, ground networks, and mission control infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with ground segment monitoring and telemetry handling.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in time-critical environments.
  • Advanced level of English and excellent communication skills.
  • Self-learning skills.
  • Experience in LEO missions will be a plus.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally allowed to work in the EU and hold a European citizenship. Evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
  • Copy of passport and degree(s) certificate.
  • Good conduct certificate from the country where currently resident.
  • Furthermore, in view of the nature of the work, all potential employees will undergo stringent reference checks.

Location

The work will be performed from a Control Centre located in Rome from where several satellites composing a constellation will be operated.
