Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of Telecommunications & Integrated Applications (TIA). We are looking for a New Concepts Engineer.

Overview

  • Contributing to the gathering and analysis of business intelligence and market information related to the global satellite communications sector, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, as well as
    global economic, technological and industrial trends and developments.
  • Identifying, studying, and developing new satcom system concepts and applications: including new satellite system architectures, new services and applications, and improving integration and interoperation with terrestrial systems.
  • Contributing to the definition of new satellite and system projects based on disruptive technologies and concepts. Technologies of particular interest are, among others: 6G, CubeSat/micro-satellite design and technologies (e.g. high-frequency antennas, software-defined radios, software-design payloads, digital signal processing, photonics / optical communications, electric propulsion,…), AI/ML application in satcom implementation using hardware accelerators, advanced security concepts, VLEO (Very Low Earth Orbit) satellite technology and concepts.
  • Support in the identification and definition of future technology development activities, in terms of either technology feasibility demonstrations, product and system development support, or in-orbit validation and demonstration needs, as well as exploring ‘spin-in’ opportunities from other relevant high technology application areas.

Specific qualification requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Excellent level of English.
  • Knowledge and experience of advanced technologies and concepts, preferably related and applicable to telecommunication systems.
  • Knowledge of Satcom system architectures, products and market.
  • Knowledge and experience of advanced technologies and concepts, preferably related and applicable to telecommunication systems.
  • Ability to gather and share relevant information.
  • Ability to support the definition of a technology development strategy.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands.
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Contract

  • The selected candidate will receive good remuneration  in line with ESA Job Class.
  • Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
  • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
  • Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
  • Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially.
