Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora is looking for support in the ESA domain of PLT- RF Systems Payload and Technologies in the TEC Directorate.

Specific Tasks

The tasks and duties of this post will include:

  • Contribute to the overall PNT and Geolocation systems design, development and R&D activities lead by the Navigation Systems Definition Section (TEC-SEN).
  • Support to Navigation Projects (e.g., GALILEO, LEO-PNT, FutureNAV) and R&D activities in the fields of system, signal, receivers and performance for Positioning, Navigation, Timing (PNT) and Geolocation.
    This includes design, implementation and testing of systems, signals and receiver techniques, derivation of system and user performances, Galileo PRS and authentication services, and related techniques/algorithms.
    Contribute to the Agency’s R&D strategy and research programs elaboration and implementation, among others, in the following areas: future PNT systems and concepts, LEO-PNT and Multi-layer PNT, 5G/6G
    NTN positioning, Moon/Mars/Solar PNT, Deep Space Navigation, Geolocation and RFI Monitoring, Space Receivers and receiver and signal processing techniques for improved accuracy, availability, reliability and resilience.
  • Participation and active contributions to ESA activities supporting standardisation bodies and technical working groups addressing the aforementioned topics.
  • Design, definition and follow up of industrial contracts related to the aforementioned topics, including for example, R&D activities, procurement of GNSS bread-boards and receivers for infrastructure or user technologies / test user segments
  • Support design, implementation, maintenance and operation of Radio Navigation equipment, complex Radio Navigation simulation tools and test facilities for testing features (end-to-end performances, receivers, etc.) in the aforementioned activities.

Specific qualification requirements

  • Background and solid experience, including hands-on experience on design, implementation and/or lab/field testing.
  • Experience in GNSS/Galileo systems, signals and associated receiver technologies.
  • Experience in Galileo PRS system, signals and receivers.
  • Experience in GNSS/Galileo authentication.
  • Experience inLEO-PNT systems, signals and receivers.
  • Experience in Governmental, Telecom and/or EO/SAR satellite systems.
  • Space Receivers and Deep Space Navigation.
  • Geolocation and RFI Monitoring systems and techniques.
  • Eligibility to obtain an EU personal security clearance from the relevant national authority.
  • Good level of English.
  • Master’s Degree.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Contract

  • The selected candidate will receive good remuneration  in line with ESA Job Class.
  • Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
  • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
  • Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
  • Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially.
  • Aurora contributes 15,4% of pensionable salary to a company pension scheme and employees can optionally make additional contributions.
