Aurora, – part of SSC Group, is an established supplier of skilled manpower to the European Space Agency (ESA), specifically at the facilities ESTEC, (in NL) and ESAC (in Spain). Aurora’s head office is located in Noordwijk, the Netherlands and consists of an international team of experienced professionals supporting the multicultural and highly educated staff working onsite at either ESTEC or ESAC.
Due to an expanded HR approach, we have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Manager who will take overall responsibility for the payroll. Existing staff provide assistance with for instance entering reimbursements for business trips. Salary management includes all aspects of new employee, leaving employee with untaken leave compensation, 30% tax ruling, home to work travel, teleworking compensation, starting bonus and also June and December bonuses, overtime etc.
Overview of main tasks
- Salary management, using EXACT Salaris for NL employees.
- Salary management for the Spanish employees via a Spanish payrolling company.
- Ensuring processes are continuously in line with the changing laws and regulations.
- Pension administration of NL employees, entering all mutations for changes in salary, FTE, change of circumstances, voluntary additional contributions
- In addition to the Payroll, there will be various Talent Management tasks to perform within the Human Resources team. Examples include supporting staff queries on employment such as maternity/paternity and parental leave. Training for employees such as approval, monitoring, reimbursement of costs.
Specific qualification requirements
- Experienced with payroll using EXACT. Capable to manage all aspects of the salary processing, corrections and configuration of social security contributions.
- Capable to take over the current Payroll in EXACT with little training.
- Excellent understanding of Dutch Labour Law and relevant policies and procedures.
- Good IT skills.
- An eye for detail and driven by providing a consistent quality of support and improvement to internal processes.
- Well organized, able to multi-task, dedicated, conscientious and honest.
- Team player mindset.
Legal and Security Requirements
- All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands.
- Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University.
- Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.
Location
The work will be performed at the Aurora office in Noordwijk.
Contract
- Initial 1-year contract with the potential for extension to a permanent position
- Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
- All employees receive good remuneration in line with function and experience.
- When autonomous then teleworking can often be utilised on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- The standard working hours are 40 per week. Minimum 28 hours per week.
- There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.

- Aurora contributes > 15% of pensionable salary to a company pension scheme and employees can optionally make additional contribution
