Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora is looking for support in the ESA domain of SMT– Structures Materials Mechanisms and Thermal Engineering in the TEC Directorate.

Specific Tasks

  • Provide support to the Agency in the thermal engineering (design, analysis and verification area) related to the sections thermal control activities.
  • Provide support to ESA projects, including CDF activities, interface with the project team, interface – if requested – with the industrial team, participate in progress meetings and reviews, as requested by project work, and provide appropriate feedback on the achieved progress and discussions.
  • Support the thermal control activities (project support and R&D activities) of the Section in the area of his/her specialization.
  • Build geometrical and thermal models, perform relevant analyses, evaluate critically the results and issue relevant documentation covering all work performed.
  • Support the maintenance and upgrading of thermal mathematical models.
  • Support thermal verification test campaigns for ongoing ESA projects by performing/reviewing test procedures, test predictions and test correlations and attend the tests if required.

Support ESA project reviews:

  • Support European standardization activities.
  • Make regular progress reports.
  • Provide adequate documentation, covering all tasks above.

Specific qualification requirements

  • Master degree in Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience in the fields above.
  • Should have a very good background and experience in thermal modelling and analysis as well as thermal spacecraft design and verification.
  • Good background and knowledge of spacecraft system aspects.
  • Good background and experience with the Agency’s thermal analysis tools, e.g. ESATAN-TMS
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken; knowledge of another official ESA language is and asset.
  • Very good communication skills as well as qualities of order, method, initiative to work independently, and reliability in the execution of tasks are required.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Contract

  • The selected candidate will receive good remuneration  in line with ESA Job Class.
  • Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
  • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
  • Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
