Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora is looking for support in the ESA domain of PLT- RF Systems Payload and Technologies in the TEC Directorate.

Specific Tasks

  • Support the Security Officer in the Secure Laboratory of the System Security Section, as a focal point.
  • Enable and ensure the applicability of the security operation procedures (SECOPS) of the Secure Laboratory.
  • Ensure the correct operations of the laboratory in line with applicable security requirements and operational security constraints, in particular for asset classification/control and physical, personnel and document security.
  • Coordinate routine operational and maintenance activities, such as maintenance of required databases (e.g. requests for visit, equipment clearance debriefing, etc.) and action items, reporting on activities, supporting lab personnel, disseminating information and organizing dedicated training or briefings as required, etc.
  • Interface with the TEC Security Officer, ESA Security Office (ESO) and ESA Projects Security Officers.
  • Interface with the users to capture their requests and enable their implementation.
  • Ensure daily coverage of nominal and emergency operations in coordination with other security officers or laboratory managers/coordinators.
  • Coordinate with laboratory managers/coordinators within the TEC directorate.
  • Act as a Project / System Security Officer (PSSO) or alternate Security Officer (SO).
  • Debrief the Security Officer and the Heads of Section on daily operations of the Laboratories.
  • Propose developments needed to enhance the security of space systems and assist ESA Technical Officers on Research and Development activities.
  • Duties may also include supporting other activities within the field of required competences.

Specific qualification requirements

  • A Master or PhD degree or equivalent in Engineering (preferably in computer science / cyber security, or telecom, or aerospace or navigation).
  • Experience in coordinating and executing security processes.
  • Experience in coordinating technical laboratories and their activities.
  • Experience in dealing with sensitive information and material involving National state interest, or EU interests.
  • Very good knowledge in security best practices.
  • Knowledge on Information Security Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of RF systems for Communications or Navigation, including but not limited to antenna, amplifiers, SDR, modems, GNSS receivers, etc.
  • Experience in IT systems and security matters, proved through external certifications (such as CISSP, CCNA, COMPTIA+, etc..).
  • A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English is essential.

Candidates must be eligible:
a. for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration.
b. to access technology and hardware which is subject to European and US export control regulations.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Contract

  • The selected candidate will receive good remuneration  in line with ESA Job Class.
  • Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
  • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
  • Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
  • Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially.
  • Aurora contributes 15,4% of pensionable salary to a company pension scheme and employees can optionally make additional contributions.
