Aurora is an established supplier of Engineering Services to the European Space Agency (ESA), specifically at the facilities ESTEC, (in NL) and ESAC (in Spain). Aurora’s head office is located in Noordwijk, the Netherlands and consists of an international team of experienced professionals supporting the multicultural and highly educated staff working onsite at either ESTEC or ESAC.

If hired, you will work at our Head Office in Noordwijk. You will be expected to be flexible and adaptable, reliable and quality driven. Above all you must be trustworthy and an excellent communicator.

The candidate shall directly report to the Head of Sales and Business Development and work together with the Talent Acquisition team. Additionally, the candidate will also support the entire SSC Group as a whole and in particular the Engineering Services Division.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Service & Proposal Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the service delivery at ESTEC and supporting the proposal development process, ensuring that our solutions are aligned with client needs, competitive and well-positioned to win.

The ideal candidate will be able to manage client relationships, writing winning proposals, and oversee the full cycle of service execution to ensure client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Proposal Management:

  • Support or lead the bid management process, from opportunity identification to final submission.
  • Develop, write, and oversee the preparation of proposals for client opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information for proposals, ensuring all inputs are aligned with client requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company and client policies, including legal, financial, and regulatory requirements in proposals.
  • Conduct pricing analysis and prepare cost models for service solutions.
  • Ensure that proposals are competitively priced and clearly demonstrate the value of our services.
  • Prepare and lead proposal presentations and support negotiations with clients.

Service Delivery:

  • Manage the delivery of services in line with client contracts, ensuring on-time and high-quality execution.
  • Coordinate with Work Package Managers, resources and manage cross-functional teams to ensure service milestones are achieved.
  • Regularly communicate with clients, acting as the primary point of contact for service-related inquiries and issues.
  • Develop and maintain service-level agreements (SLAs) and ensure compliance with them.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction.
  • Anticipate client requirements and proactively offer solutions and improvements to enhance their experience.
  • Gather client feedback for continuous improvement in service offerings.

Business Development support:

  • Identify new opportunities and improve our value propositions.
  • Support the acquisition of new customers.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in proposal management, service delivery, or a related role.
  • Proven track record of managing complex proposals and service agreements.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple proposals and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client management skills with a focus on service excellence.
  • Experience in the Space sector and familiarity of ESA working environment is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands.
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the Aurora head office and occasional visits to European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

  • The standard working hours are 40 per week.   Minimum 32 hours per week.
  • There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
