Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of TEC-SYS – Systems Technology and Concurrent Engineering. We are looking for a Software Systems App Support Engineer to support the Software Systems Division, in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality (TEC).

Overview

The Software Systems Division deals with development techniques for ground and space systems. This covers all life-cycle aspects from requirements specification to development, verification, validation and maintenance. Within this division, the Software Technology Section is aiming at providing functional support to all projects in term of development environment facilities and at exploring the use of new technologies in the different areas.

For supporting the development of ESA projects, a Common Software Development Environment (CSDE) platform has been put in place in the TEC-SW laboratory. The section TEC SWT is in charge of the maintenance and evolution of the TEC-SW laboratory to match the needs of the projects and provide the support to ESA projects.

The main features and products of the platform are:

  • Requirement engineering: IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Document collaboration: Confluence.
  • Project planning and issue tracking: JIRA.
  • A set of plug-ins and tools adding specific features (e.g. continuous integration, exports, reporting, etc.)

The Software Engineer will join the Software Technology section (TEC-SWT). They will be assigned to support all the activities related to the CSDE with a particular focus on the maintenance and evolution of the platform and the support of the users.

Specific qualification requirements

  • A Masters degree in Engineering.
  • Expertise in Confluence and JIRA.
  • Expertise in IBM Rational DOORS and requirement engineering.
  • Experience in DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience with IBM Rational Publishing Engine.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines.
  • A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English is essential.

Legal and Security Requirements

  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
  • Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident.

Location

The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Contract

  • The selected candidate will receive good remuneration  in line with ESA Job Class.
  • Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands.
  • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
